Reviews:

Where the Crawdads Sing- 4/4

This is probably my favorite book. I loved the story and while it was slow to some I couldn’t get enough of it. The book flips back and forth between a young girl and a murder mystery and in the end the two stories merge together. Kya’s character was so simple yet memorizing. Also you are in suspense until the last page and for me it was the perfect ending.

The Silent Patient- 3.5/4

This was a super quick read. I finished it in 3 sittings and found the authors tone to be super relatable. It is about a woman who shoots her husband and doesn’t speak again. The whole book we are trying to find out her motive. At first, I was surprised that most of the book was told through the perspective of the psychotherapist but in the end that didn’t bother me and only added to the plot.

Normal People- 1/4

I found this a struggle to get through. While most of my friends really loved this book I think it reminded me of past toxic relationships. The author uses an interesting writing technique that I think added to the characters personality, however she doesn’t use quotes making it hard to read at times.

Better than Before- 4/4

I think to say this book was “life changing” is an overstatement, however, it has made so many amazing points for creating better habits. I have already adapted many and am very happy with how it has been going. I took away about 4 pages of notes and while not every section was helpful the book as a whole is worth a read.

Little Fires Everywhere- 2/4

I had a hard time getting into this story. It has multiple perspectives which threw me off and made it hard to get comfortable. The plot ends up coming together well and it brings up some interesting points about culture/ wealth in regard to family dynamics. I am happy I finished it but it wasn’t a favorite.

Daisy Jones and the Six-4/4

I really loved everything about this book. It is written in a unique interview style which made me feel like I was watching reality TV show. I fell in love with the characters and my only complaint is I wish it was a real band. I so hope they turn this into a movie.

Educated- 4/4

The fact that this is a memoir blows my mind. I really enjoyed learning about her crazy life and it definitely made me take a step back and appreciate my upbringing and education. It poses interesting thoughts about nature vs. nurture and how much humans can physically and mentally endure.
